- Theophyline (potentially toxic)

- Risk of neonatal respiratory depression
- Used as labour analgesia
When should codeine be avoided?

- Penicillin = safe (check allergies)
- Macrolide = only use if no alternative
- Tetracycline = do not prescribe
- Sulphonamides = teratogenic (avoid in first trimester)
- Aminoglycosides (auditory/vestibular nerve damage)
- Cephalosporins = safe
