Explain zero order drug kinetics.
A
Concentration independent. the drug is cleared at a constant AMOUNT regardless of how much drug you have.

What is first order metabolism?
A
Concentration dependent. The more drug you consume, the faster it is metabolized because there are more enzymes working on the drug. This follows constant PROPORTIONS of clearance and constant half-life. It has Non-saturable carrier.

What is loading vs maintenance dose in giving a zero order drug?
A
Loading is the initial dose you give to the patient. Maintenance dose is what you give the patient to maintain the drug effect.
