Define rule 306

A

Exemption for drivers of emergency vehicles.
Under rule 306 an ACTF&R driver of an appliance responding to an incident may drive without following normal road rules, but is still legally bound to drive in a safe manner. This includes, but is not limited to driving through red lights, driving against normal traffic directions, crossing median strips, and avoiding red light or speed camera offences.

Define rule 78

A

Keeping clear of police and emergency vehicles.
Under rule 78 other vehicle drivers should move out of the way of responding emergency vehicles. They must do this as soon as it is safe to do so, and may break road rules in order to keep clear. You should be prepared for unpredictable driver behaviour, as many drivers have never experienced emergency responce vehicles and may panic, or not know what to do.

Define rule 79

A

Giving way to police and emergency vehicles.
Under rule 79 other vehicle drivers should give way to responding emergency vehicles. They must do this by remaining stopped, or slowing, and may break road rules in order to give way. You should be prepared for unpredictable driver behaviour, as many drivers have never experienced emergency response vehicles and may be trying to give way without knowing your intentions.
Other vehicle drivers should never be forced out of the way, it must be their choice to take the action that they see as safe in the circumstances.
