Don’t want it dangling at sx site. Can safety pin it to grown but remember to upin after tax

Incentive spirometer
Give to pt at bedside
Assist w/ deep breathing in hopes to prevent plum complications during hospital stay
Encourage pt to use when they are in bed
Prevent pneumonia
Sequential compression device (SCD)
Inflatable sleeves applied to leg
Promote venous return and prevent DVT
Contraindicated in extremity w/ DVT
Not used directly over fox, open wound or acute cellulitis
Restraints
Cloth, leather, 2 or 4 point, mitt, posey vests, l’nard boots
- If you see pt has restraint on, clue to you that there is something going on w/ pt.
- Some have it loosely as reminder not to pull tubes
- If tied pretty tightly to bed - indication that pt is combatative.
- Could be either. Check chart and figure out best way to work w/ pt
- Read chapter in textbook - question on test
