Dr. Illanes Case Studies- TEST 3 Flashcards
Heifer. History of ataxia and progressive paresis of the hind limbs.
Compression of the spinal cord- dense exudate-
vertebral absess in T 13( this is typical for cows)
Mdx: chronic Suppuraltive Osteomylitis
What’s going on in the spinal cord?- mengial mylitis
Congeitial chondrodysplasia fatalis, severe
Dexter bulldog
Femoral heads, pigs
articular collapse- loss of cartilage erosion
osteochrondrosis( very common in pigs that grow quickly)
osteochondritis dissecans,
common in young horses
degenerative changes in the articular cartilage
osteochondrosis in piag- long. section of affected bone- uneven thickness of the articular cartilage
Tail biting lesion
Vertebral abysess can result from tail biting
fracture in the sphenoid bone of a horse
may have happened become- trauma to the head; from falling backwards
Mdx: ?
Pig, Humerus
Morphological Dx: Chronic Focal, Suppuralative osteomylitis
cavitating lesions filled with pale-tan pasty exudate are present adjacent to the growth plate.
feedlot heifer with a history of lameness- sequestrium in the center
Mdx: Osteonecrosis
involucrum- tissue that gets around the bone
chronic osteomylitis
chronic because of fibrosis (grayish areas)
chronic sole abscess
distal forelimb unilaterally is markely enlarged
healed fracture/ osteomylsitis
loss articular cartialage with exposure of the subchondral bone
closed compound fracture
