what does it mean for humans to have a double circulation?
this means that blood passes through the heart twice in one single complete circuit
what are the two circuits that comprise of the human circulatory system?
it consists of the pulmonary and the systemic circuit
what does the pulmonary circuit do?
it allows deoxygenated blood to be pumped to the lungs.
what does the systemic circuit do?
it allows oxygenated blood to be pumped from the heart to the rest of the body at a higher pressure
why does blood have to enter out lungs at a lower pressure
this allows sufficient time for deoxygenated blood to be oxygenated when entering the lungs
why is blood pumped in the systemic circuit at a higher pressure?
this ensures that oxygenated blood is quickly pumped to all parts of the body
