(DONE) Lab 4 prep Flashcards
1
Q
List the 5 properties of gases
A
- may be compressed
- have a low density
- exert a constant pressure on the walls of their containers
- expand to fill their containers uniformly
- can be mixed readily
2
Q
State the 4 main features of the ideal gas model
A
- gases consist of very tiny particles (molecules or atoms) which move rapidly and randomly in a straight line
- gas particles are very widely spaced
- gas particles collide with each other and with the walls of their container elastically
- gas particles exert no attractive forces on eachother
3
Q
State the ideal gas equation and give the universal gas constant
A
- PV=nRT
- 0.08206 Latm/Kmol
4
Q
Give the equation for Dalton’s law of partial pressures
A
- P= P1+P2+P3+…
5
Q
What will we explore in experiment 4?
A
- Behaviour of gasses with respect to 4 properties (pressure, volume, moles, temperature)
6
Q
How will you collect data? (2)
A
- Vernier Interface probes
- Logger Pro Software
7
Q
Specifically what version of the Vernier interface does our lab use?
A
- LabPro Interface with the Logger Pro software Version 3.8
8
Q
What is the Logger Pro?
A
- software that controls the interface and displays the results of the various sensor measurements
9
Q
What sensors will we use in the experiment? (2)
A
- gas pressure sensor
- temperature probe
10
Q
Explain the 3 different relationships that y may have with x
A
- direct (linear)
- exponential (indirect)
- inverse (indirect)
