What is domestic violence?
Any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behavior violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.

Requires local authorities to provide services to promote and safeguard welfare of children

Section 1(1) Children Young Persons Act?
Person who has attained the age of 16 and has responsibility for any child or young person under that age willfully assaults/injures/neglects etc. that person is guilty of an offence.

Children may be taken into police protection if there is reason to believe there can be significant harm.
