Considered abusive behavior, or coercion used to gain or maintain power and
control over another, where there is a certain relationship as defined by law. A
comprehensive list of crimes is detailed in Nevada Revised Statute (NRS)
33.018.
Acts Constituting Domestic Violence
Unlawfully attempting to use physical force against another person or
intentionally placing another person in reasonable apprehension of immediate
bodily harm.
Assault
Any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.
Battery
The intent to compel another to do or abstain from doing an act which the other
person has a right to do or abstain from doing.
Coercion
Frequent, intimate associations primarily characterized by the expectation of
affectional or sexual involvement. The term does not include a casual relationship
or an ordinary association between persons in a business or social context.
Dating Relationship
Occurs when there is probable cause that a separate, distinct battery has been
committed by each party against the other and warrants the arrest of both parties.
Mutual Arrest
Domestic violence involving strangulation, deadly weapons, or substantial bodily
harm to the alleged victim, assault with a deadly weapon, felony coercion, battery
domestic violence with a prior conviction for an act constituting felony domestic
violence, or third domestic violence offense (based on convictions within seven
years) as defined by NRS 200.485.
Felony Domestic Violence
When a person subjects another person to sexual penetration or forces another
person to make a sexual penetration on himself or herself or another, or on a
beast, against the will of the victim or under conditions in which the perpetrator
knows or should know that the victim is mentally or physically incapable of
resisting or understanding the nature of his or her conduct.
Sexual Assault
