Domain I: Training and Supervision Flashcards
Monitoring treatment and procedural integrity
Procedural Fidelity/Treatment Integrity
-the extent to which the I.V. is implemented or carried out as planned.
-ensuring that the I.V. is implemented as planned and that no other unplanned, or confounding, variables are inadvertently administered during treatment.
Observer drift and reactivity
Over the course of a study, observers sometimes alter, often unknowingly, the way they apply a measurement system. Called observer drift, these unintended changes in the way data are collected may produce measurement error.
Observer reactivity: Measurement error resulting from an observer’s awareness that others are evaluating the data
Inter-observer agreement and validation methods
Interobserver Agreement (IOA)
-The degree of agreement between 2 or more independent observers when measuring the same events.
-May be used as a way to assess the competence of new observers (may be used as a training technique).
-May be used to identify observer drift.
-Having multiple observers with a high degree of agreement supports that the target behavior is clear and unambiguous and system of measurement is not too difficult.
-A high degree of agreement amongst observers verifies that any variability in the data is not attributed to errors in measurement.
Training procedures and behavior skills training
BST Model
BST (behavior skills training)
1.Instruction: What should be performed
2.Modeling: Trainer demonstrates the behavior
3.Rehearsal: Trainee performs the behavior
4.Feedback: Immediate, based on data collection
Performance evaluation (e.g., feedback, documentation, continuous support)
At ABAE we have PFF (performance feedback form)available for supervisors to create goals for staff and have documentation on feedback given during sessions. Staff should have a PFF done once a month.
Supervision is an active and continuous process (day to day and during training)
Coordination of care (e.g., parent training, collaboration, liaison, laymen’s terms)
Collaboration with client’s other services and school is encouraged! Always have an ROI signed by parent before ANY collaboration begins.
Using laymen’s terms may be helpful during parent training and collaborations when explaining techniques to teach and use outside of sessions.
Sociocultural values (considerations)
During sessions and creating goals for clients the clinical team should always consider any factors that may not be appropriate for the family’s culture or religion and should always be kept in mind. (eating habits, accepting food, pointing, etc.)
