Q

Matthew 3:11-17

A

John the Baptist: “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worth to carry. He will baptize toy with the Holy Spirit and with Fire…then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him saying I need to be baptized by you and do you come to me? But Jesus answered him , Let it be so now for this it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness…and when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased”

Q

Acts 10:44-48

A

While Peter was still saying all these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then peter declared, Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Q

The sacraments as signs of grace

A

Sacraments are an outward and visible sign of inward and spiritual grace. It enables the believer through experience to set aside intellectualism and rationalism and allow god’s incomprehensible grace to enter and transform their ordinary life.

17
Q

The one true sacrament

A

Christ has been described as the one true sacrament. The way by which men come to the Father and the way by which the grace of God comes to man.

18
Q

A sacramental people

A

We find Christ living and at work in our own life experiences. We are a sacramental Community because our life, work, and our celebrations center on Christ. The call to a life of holiness is the call to sacramental living.

19
Q

Gifts of the Spirit: Distributed for the body

A

Gifs are given for to build up the body (Ephesians 4:11) and are administered by the Holy Spirit. A spiritual gift is a divine grace and not to be confused with a talent. Spiritual gifts are given to individuals on behalf of the whole body. One does not light a fire to warm the stove, but to warm a whole room. See also 1 Corinthians 12.

20
Q

Define;

Natural Talents, roles in the church, the fruit of the spirit, counterfeit signs (Matthew 7, Exodus 7)

A

Gifts/ have to do with service, not all possessed by any given believer, will come to an end.

Fruit/ has to do with character, is what the person is, produced from within the believer, should be present in every believer, permanent

Matthew 7/ judging others, ask and it will be given, the golden rule, a tree and it’s fruit, I never knew you, build your house on a rock, the authority of Jesus

Exodus 7/ Moses and Aaron before Pharoh, hardening of Pharohs heart
