Mallory weiss vs boerhaave’s syndrome.. what’s the difference
Boerhaave tear is a TRANSMURAL tear so it’s wayyy more serious
-Mallory-weiss is not as big of a deal

reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus
What is associated with changes in the epithelium of the esophagus?
chronicity
what epithelial transition happens in barret esophagus?
squamous to columnar
-you get an adenocarcinoma
What are the two malignant tumors of the esophagus?
adenocarcinoma
squamous cell carcinoma
where in the esophagus does adenocarcinoma and SCC hppen?
adeno= distal 1/3 SCC= middle part
What is Tylosis?
hyperkeratosis of palms and soles
- Howel-Evans syndrome
- RHBDF2 mutation
- risk factor for esophageal SCC
What is GAVE syndrome
