What is a covenant?
A religious agreement made between God and a religious group.
What is a civil divorce?
Divorced according to the law of the country but not by the church.

What are the catholic attitudes towards divorce and remarriage?
It isn’t allowed since catholic marriage is a sacrament and can only be broken if a spouse dies or an annulment.
What does the catholic church allow instead of divorce?
Civil divorce if the couple find it difficult to live together only if it ensures the safety and wellbeing of the children. However since they’re not divorced in the eyes of the church they can’t get remarried as that will be seen as adultery or bigamy.
In what conditions can a marriage get annuled?
If it was proved not to be consummated or if it wasnt a true christian marriage.
Why can’t catholics get a divorce?
Jesus taught it was wrong and it is a covenant.
What are the non-catholic opinions on divorce and remarriage?
Divorce is wrong but is allowed if the marriage has broken down.
Under what conditions can non-catholics get remarried?
If they promise their next marriage will be for life.
Why is divorce accepted for non-catholics?
Jesus allowed divorce if the partner committed adultery. Also, they can confess their sins and repent to God to forgive them if they get remarried.
What is the humanist opinion on divorce and remarriage?
If the marriage has broken down and both partners will be treated equally when it comes to financial arrangements it is okay to divorce.
