There is higher expectations if it and couples nowadays are less willing to tolerate in an unhappy marriage.

It is based on mutual love rather than economic reasons or duty and marriage today is viewed as where individuals seek personal fulfilment and not a binding contract.

How does women’s economic position affect divorce?
Their economic position will make them less financially dependent on their husbands and so it will be freer to end an unsatisfactory marriage rather than tolerating the conflict.
Do men get paid more than women?
Yes they get paid more but there is a narrowed paid gap
How does education and welfare benefits help women?
Girls greater success in education helps them achieve better jobs and the welfare benefits will make them be less dependent on their husbands.

Women now are earners and homemakers which creates conflict. Marriage remains patriarchal as it benefits men with the triple shift
