When an economic unit eg a factory worker concentrates on a
particular task.
What is Division of labour?
The specialization of workers on given tasks and work roles.
What does Division of labour ensure?
It enables efficiency as each worker does his task to their best ability, it improves efficiency in production and high Labour productivity.
For example: the activities to produce shirts under division of labour:
-Designing, Pattern making, purchasing raw materials, cutting, assembly, packaging etc.

Disadvantages
- Repitition Stifles creativity
-Boring and monotonous
-Causes immobility of labour- workers may have trouble looking for jobs if their specialization is not relevant in other jobs and can be replaced by technology
What is labour productivity defined as
Production of labour or efficiency of labour is defined as the output per worker per period. In other words it is the amount of output a worker can produce in a given time period
What are some ways to raise labour productivity?
increasing the wages of workers
providing promotion opportunities
improving working conditions
providing sufficient education and training opportunities
