2. mainly assymptomatic but disease involves some symptoms

A
- low fibre diet

A
- usually assymptomatically
- chronic, progressive lower abdominal pain
- altered bowel habits

Ix of diverticular disease?
A
- rectal examination - may feel a mass
- Barium enema - diverticular are more ovbious
- Colonoscopy - exclude cancer

A
high fibre diet and weight loss

Name 4 complications of diverticular disease?
A
- acute diverticulitis
- Bowel perforation
- Fistula - colovesical or colovaginal
- haemorrhage
