What does Tuckman’s Team Theory relate to?
It relates to how a team of people tackle a task by breaking it down into 5 stages
1. Forming - Specification of common goals and desired behaviours
- Storming - Conflicts and negotiation
- Norming - Consensus and team spirit
- Performing - Finding the balance of conformity and deviance
- Adjourning - Feedback and dispersion
What is the Equality Act 2010?
The Equality Act 2010 legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society. It replaced previous anti-discrimination laws with a single Act, making the law easier to understand and strengthening protection in some situations
What does the Equality Act cover?
It covers everyone in Britain and protects people from discrimination, harassment, and victimisation
What characteristics are protected by the Equality Act 2010?
Age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy, race, religion, or sex
What is diversity?
Diversity means having a range of people with various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and various lifestyles, experience, and interests.
Please define inclusion in the workplace?
Workplace inclusion is when people feel valued and accepted in their team and in the wider organisation, without having to conform. Inclusive organisations support employees, regardless of their background or circumstance, to thrive at work.
Why is diversity in the workplace important?
A diverse workplace is an important asset, since it acknowledges the individual strengths of each employee and the potential they bring. Valuing the differences of others is what ultimately brings us all together and can be the secret to a successful, thriving workplace and a fair work culture
What is meant by the term unconscious bias?
Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness

What is meant by teamworking?
The process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal

How would you deal with an inexperienced team member?
- Provide encouragement and motivation
- Draw up plan to strengthen their areas of weakness
- Give constructive feedback
- Provide support where needed
How would you go about selecting the right people to join your team?
- Understand the task and identify what skills/experience is required
- Review the existing team to understand the skills and experience already available
- Select new team members to address the shortfall
