What is workplace diversity?
Diversity in the workplace relates to the acceptance and inclusion of employees of all backgrounds. It is an important asset of an organisation as it acknowledges the individual strengths of each employee and the potential they bring.
What are some advantages of a diverse team?
Increased productivity: A diversity of talent will result in a broader range of skills amongst the team and result in increased productivity.
Increased creativity: Differing skill sets and perspectives within the team will increase the change of generating solutions to workplace problems.
Positive reputation: Companies that have a diverse workplace are often perceived as better employers
Please explain your understanding of inclusion within the workplace?
Creating an environment and culture where all company employees feel like they belong in the organisation and that no one person feels excluded on the basis of their identity.
What is meant by the term unconscious bias?
Unconscious bias is when people make decisions or form opinions based on stereotypes or assumptions without realising it.
It can influence behaviour in recruitment, performance reviews, and client relations. Being aware of it is essential for promoting fairness and professionalism.
How can unconscious Bias affect the team?
Cause fractions in the team
Reduce communication
No collaboration
Lower productivity
What are the dynamics involved in working in a team?
Listening - listen to other people’s ideas
Discussing - team members to ask questions and interact
Persuading - individuals to consider their positions
Respect - treating team members with respect, and support their ideas
Helping - encourage teamwork
Sharing - information to create a positive team environment
Participating - ensuring all team members get involved
Communication - having effective communication skills to allow team members to work together
Reflection - identifying strengths and weaknesses of team members and the team itself

A team has a common shared aim. People in the team carry out tasks to achieve objectives, and together fulfil this aim.
Tell me about an example of where you have worked well in a team?
I regularly have to pull together management reports with regional team members, we present these to our client together.
What is a common issue you have come across when working in a team?
Lack of transparency.
Poor communication.
Not listening.
What is the Tuckman Theory?
Focuses on how a team tackles a task, consists of 5 phases: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, Transforming
What is the Herzberg Theory?
Two-factor motivational theory, workers are motivated through motivators such as empowerment, and can become demotivated if hygiene factors are not met; such as working conditions.
What is your employers equality and diversity policy?
Workman’s Equality and Diversity Policy 2022: This Policy aims to ensure effective policies and practice of promoting Diversity
and Equality, and the avoidance of unlawful discrimination at work.

How does Equality Act 2010 protect people from discrimination?
It makes it illegal to discriminate against any of the 9 protected characteristics, in the 4 different ways:
Leadership qualities ?

Taking responsibility

What does Equality Act mean for LLs?
Buildings must not discriminate against anyone.
For example, buildings must be accessible for disabled people
They can’t discriminate against mothers either so must facilitate breastfeeding.
Purpose of Equality Act?
To protect vulnerable people from being discriminated against.
Equality definition?
Where all parties in society are given equal opportunity, regardless of characteristics outside of their control.
Inclusion definition?
Ensuring all parties in society are included in, and have access to whatever is going on
