Distal RU joint Flashcards
What are the articular surfaces of the distal RU joint?
Those are the head of the ulna + the ulnar notch of the radius
What structure can we find there?
We can find an articular disk which separates the distal radioulnar joint from the radiocarpal joint.
Describe the capsule of the distal RU joint
The capsule is lax and it extends from the INFERIOR sacciform recess up to the shaft of the ulna.
Describe the path in which the interosseous membrane stretches
Proximal laterally to the medial side of the ulna. Fibers od OBLIQUE cord run in the opposite direction, and they reinforce the interosseous membrane.
Describe the position of the oblique cord + its attachment sites
Starts at the ulnar tuberosity and extends to the interosseous border of the radius, distal to the radial tuberosity.
