Intermittent Explosive Disorder
REcurrent behavioral outbursts representing a failure to control aggressive impulses (verbal or physical)
Outbursts are not premeditated
Anger is grossly out of proportion
Goes on for at least 6 years
Cause distress to the person and make work/life more difficult.
TREAT WITH SSRIs and antipsychotics + CBT
Pyromania
Under Intermittent Explosive Disorder
Fire setting on purpose.
Tension before. Curiosity. Pleasure/gratification after.
Send them to the burn center to show them the consequences of fire.
Kleptomania
Under intermittent explosive disorder
REcurrent failure to resist impulses to steal objects that are of no need to the individual.
Tension before the act. Pleasure during and after stealing.
Internet Addiction
Under intermittent Explosive disorders
Excessive or poorly controlled computer use that leads to impairment or distress. Desires to use the computer when offline. Arousal when online but guilty after spending too much time..
Cut the internet service or limit usage if parent of patient.
Compulsive Shopping
Under intermittent explosive disorder
Irresistible urge to buy items that are unnecessary and often unwanted.
Young women usually.
Treat with SSRIs
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
REccurent pattern of angry/irritable mood.
Behaviors leaf to distress in the individual and or in others in the immediate social context (school, daycare, etc.)
ARgumentative, angry, defiant to orders, argues a lot, spiteful/vindictive.
Conduct Disorder
Repetitive and persistent behavior pattern in which the basic rights of others or MAJOR age-appropriate social norms are violated.
Aggressive to people/animals
Destruction of property
Theft
Serious rules violation (runaway, truancy,staying out late)
