Dispatch Of Units On 421 & natural 419 Calls Flashcards
Patrol units will be dispatched on 421 calls which: (5 circumstances)
1) Are suspicious in nature
2) are related to unknown trouble calls
3) involve injuries as a result of criminal activity or traffic accident
4) are the result of a gun shot
5) other circumstances indicate a need for police involvement
If the injured person is suffering from a potential life threatening injury or substantial head trauma; what 2 things must be done
1) ICR (sick or injured person)
2) photographs taken
Response to 420 & 425 deaths:
Patrol officer will:
1) upon arriving at the scene, determine the death to be 425 or the result of a 420, and:
a) secures scene, obtain all contact info from witness, family members, PR and/or suspect(s)
b) Request CSA
c) notify the homicide section via communications or by phone Monday-Friday 0700-1600, any notification during non-operational hours must notify homicide Lt.
d) maintain security of scene, witness, family members, PR and/or suspect until relieved by 420 detail.
e) completes major inc log
f) separates & has the witnesses begin Vol statements
Response to 420 & 425 deaths:
Supervisor will:
Respond to the scene, confirm with patrol officer that the death appears to be suspicious or the result of a homicide, and:
a) Ensure CSA have been requester
b) Ensure detectives from Homicide have been notified.
