Rheumatism
Any painful disorder of the supporting structures of the body- bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles- that is not caused by injury.
Arthritis
Form of rheumatism in which the joints are swollen, stiff, and painful.
Osteoarthritis
Degenerative joint disease in which joint cartilage is gradually lost.
Rheumatoid arthritis
Autoimmune disease in which immune system of body attacks its own tissues-its own cartilage and joint linings.
Gout
When excessive amounts of Uric acid is produced or when excretion is not normal and there’s buildup in the blood. Can cause fused bones. Very painful
Lyme disease
Bacteria that causes joint stiffness, fever, rash. Can be caused by tick bite
Sprain
Forcible wrenching or twisting of a joint that stretches or tears ligaments but does not dislocate the bone.
Can be treated with PRICE. Protection Rest Ice Compression Elevation
Strain
Stretched or partially torn muscle or muscle and tendon.
Tenosynovitis
Inflammation of tendons, tendon sheaths, and synovial membranes surrounding certain joints.
Dislocation
Displacement of a bone from joint with tearing of ligaments, tendons, and Articular capsules
