rest GI, bland diet, supportive care

what are some causes of chronic gastritis
A
- inflammatory (lymphoplasmacytic or eosinophilic)
- food responsive dz
- reflux (bilious vomiting syndrome)
- helicobacter (warthin-starry stain)

Tx for lymphoplasmacytic chronic gastritis
A
- mild: diet trials with hypoallergenic diet, omeprazole, cisapride
- mod to severe: pred, azathioprine, chlorambucil

what is bilious vomiting syndrome? (ps. causes chronic gastritis)
A
- defect in pyloric function that causes motility defect and lets stomach be in prolonged contact with bile-> damages mucosa
- bile stained vomit after long fast (morning time)

Tx for bilious vomiting syndrome
A
- increase feeding frequency
- cisapride or metoclopramide
- omeprazole
- ranitidene (prokinetic)

A
- intermittent vomiting (maybe projectile) with increased frequency and may contain food hrs after eating
- hypoCl, hypoK, metabolic alkolosis
