what is multiple sclerosis (CNS)?
An autoimmune disease, where the immune system attacks and destroys the myelin sheath of the nerve cells within the CNS.
the attacked nerve tissue is replaced by scar tissue.
Effects of MS?
Tingling sensation
numbness to affected vision and incontinence
mobility can become difficult - simple tasks become impossible - fatigue and depression often occurring.
what are the two main types of strokes?
Isachemic
Haemorrhagic
What is an Isachemic stroke?
Clots block a blood vessel in the brain, depriving an area of the brain tissue of valuable oxygen and nutrients, causing the cells to die.
what is an Haemorrhagic stroke?
where a blood vessel leading to the brain ruptures, cutting of blood supply. The escaping blood confined by the skull presses down on the brain tissue, damaging the cells.
what are the symptoms of stroke (Brain)?
Numbness weakness on one side of the body, one side of the face drooping speech problems blurred vision loss of conciousness
long term effects of strokes.
difficulty swallowing incontinence memory loss depression angry outbursts mobility issues fatigue
