11
Q

Describe the process of a vaccine

A
  • A weakened pathogen is injected into the body
  • The lymphocytes produce antibodies that are stimulated by the antigen
  • The lymphocytes also clone
  • The copies don’t produce antibodies but remain in the blood to attack when the pathogen enters

17
Q

What is Cholera

A

Cholera is a diseased caused by a bacterium which is transmitted in contaminated water

18
Q

What occurs when someone gets cholera

A

The bacterium produces a toxin that causes all the Chlorine ions to go to the small intestine and causes osmotic movement of water into the gut
Effects - dehydration, diarrhoea, loss of water and chloride in the blood.
