Digoxin education ?

A
  • take exactly as prescribed
  • teach how to take apical pulse
  • if pulse falls below 60 BPM notify provider
  • keep in original bottle as it looks similar to other meds
  • Take missed dose if you remember within 12 hours
  • carry medical ID card with you

  • Increases force and velocity of myocardial contraction
  • produces antyarythmic affects by decreasing the conduction rate and increasing the effectiveness
  • refractory period of AV node

  • Hypersensitivities to meds and components
  • Uncontrolled Ventricular fibrillation and tachycardia ( Unless heart failure occurs related to digoxin therapies)
