Ingestion: food into mouth

Absorption: food moving to the circulatory system
Egestion: removal of solid waste

Liver: produces bile
Gallbladder: storage organ for bile
Pancreas: produces insulin, enzymes, and sodium bicarbonate (HCO3-)

Mechanical: physical breakdown of food (chewing)
Chemical: chemical breakdown (acid in stomach)
