What are the four accessory glands of the digestive system?
Pancreas, Gall Bladder, Liver, Salivary Glands.
Once food is chewed and reaches the pharynx what is it classified as?
Bolus/ Sorta untrue in non-chewing animals ie. Gators, Snakes, Fish etc.
Also Pharynx Anatomy is varied greatly in vertebrates. Fish only have an oropharynx, while mammals have three pharyngeal regions.
Vertebrate with Simple Alimentary canal Lacking regional specializations?
Agnathans. (Primitive Jawless Vertebrates: Hagfish, lampreys etc.)
Vertebrate with intestines which do not have regional differentiation?
Fish.
Vertebrate type with distinct intestinal regional differences
Tetrapods.
Vertebrate which has duodenum, Ileum and jejunum intestinal regions.
Mammal
Vertebrate which has only duodenum, Ileum intestinal region.
Amphibians
Once the bolus reaches the stomach, has been partially/ mostly digested and mixed with HCl and gastric enzymes what is it called?
Chyme.
Where does the bulk of digestion absorption of nutrients occur?
The small intestines- Reg cranial intestines if not applicable.
What are the two terminations of the large intestines/ Caudal intestine?
Placental and marsupial Mammals: Anus.
Other Vertebrates: Cloaca.
What is the main function of the large/ caudal intestine?
To prepare and eliminate feces.
