What do salivary glands do?
injects saliva.
What does the liver do?
The liver produces bile.
The gallbladder does what?
it stores bile.
What does the large intestine do?
absorbs water and other small nutrients.
What does the small intestine do?
It absorbs tiny nutrients in the blood
What does the mouth do?
masticate
What does the esophagus do?
peristalsis
What does the stomach contain?
it contain pepsin and hydrochloric acid
What does the stomach do?
its gastric juices mix with bolus to make chyme
What does the pancreas make?
pancreatic juice
What does the rectum do?
its where poop is stored
Why do we masticate?
to break down food in to smaller parts to facilitate digestion
What is saliva?
it’s an enzyme
What is the pharynx
a passage from the mouth to the esophagus
What’s peristalsis?
it’s the esophagus pushing and squishing food to bring down to the stomach
whats bolus?
when food goes down the esophagus
What’s the stomach?
a muscular bag
The stomach is layered with what? and why?
slimy mucous because it protects the stomach from its own acids
What’s an ulcer?
it’s when the mucous breaks
Where is bile secreted? and why?
into the small intestine to break down fats
The pancreas secretes what hormone?
insulin
What’s the anus?
it’s where waste leaves the body
