Catholics views on life after death?
A
- taught in the stories of the Bible. Bible word of God so infallible and no lies.
- Saint Paul publicised beliefs that the ‘body and blood’ cannot exist after death but catholics accept the body can’t physically survive death but believe in immortality of the soul, meaning our soul never dies.
- Salvation - the belief that through the death and resurrection of Christ, they have achieved the potential of eternal life with God. e,g Niceness Creed ‘I believe in the ressurection or the way’. Jesus triumphed over death so we can too
- believe in heaven, hell and purgatory. heaven seen as a reward for living a good life. before heaven, have to go through purgatory to prepare for external life. hell a place of horror, evil and suffering

Humanists argument for no life after death?
A
- science proven brain can’t function after death of the physical body. lead Humanists to believe that death is the end as modern science has proved no evidence that there is a life after death.
- belief of materialism. the belief that you exist through the possessions you leave behind (in memory). eg. people cherish photos and jewellery in remembrance of a deceased loved one
