Different disciplines of biology Flashcards
What are the different disciplines of biology?
- Botany
- Zoology
- Microbiology
- Cell biology
- Immunology
- Human biology
- Genetics
- Ecology
- Envolution
- Taxonomy
What does botany study?
Botany studies the interactions of plants with other organisms and the environment and their aspects.
What does zoology study?
Zoology studies animals and their behaviour. It also studies a particular species or group of species.
What does microbiology study?
Microbiology studies all living organisms that are too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archae, algae, fungi ecc.
What does cell biology study?
Cell biology studies the different structures and
functions of a cell and focuses mainly on the idea of the cell as the basic unit of life.
What does immunology study?
Immunology studies the development, anatomy
functions and malfunctions of immune systems in all organisms.
What does human biology study?
Human biology studies the human body through the influences of different fields such as evolution, genetics, anatomy ecc.
What does genetics study?
Genetics studies genes and their variation and heredity in living organisms.
What does ecology study?
Ecology studies interactions among organisms and their environment. It also studies the effects and impacts humans have on the natural world.
What does evolution study?
Evolution studies the evolutionary processes that produced the diversity of life on earth, starting from a single common ancestor.
What does taxonomy study?
Taxonomy is the science of defining and naming groups of biological organisms on the basis of shared characteristics.
