Cytoplasm Flashcards
1
Q
What is cytoplasm?
A
Cytoplasm is a jellylike substance that contains dissolved molecular building blocks such as proteins, nucleic acids, minerals and ions. Within the membrane, the cell is filled with cytoplasm.
2
Q
What is special about cytoplasm?
A
In some types of cells, the cytoplasm also contains organelles, which are structures specialized to perform distinct processes within a cell. Most organelles are surrounded by a membrane.
3
Q
REMEMBER!
A
Cytoplasm contains molecules and In some cells organelles!
4
Q
What is the cytosol?
A
The cytosol is the fluid in which organelles of the cell reside. It does not include cell organelles.
