Pineapple, cranberry, apple popsicles
Full liquid
-Soup without chunks

Used for short time to avoid unbalanced diet
Often calorie supplements are added
Mechanical soft
Cut up or ground food -Small bite sizes Soft foods -scrambled eggs -breads -cheese -soft veggies -full liquid diet Diet can be low in fiber
Purée
Blended mushy foods
Liquids may be added for texture
Calorie Restrictive
Less that 2,000 per day
Used for weight reduction
Sodium restrictive
2g or less Used for -hypertension -fluid imbalance -inner ear problems (Ménière’s disease)
Fat restrictive
Used for clients with
- elevated cholesterol
- elevated triglycerides
- need general weight loss
Diabetic
Used to manage calories and carbohydrate intake
Patients eat more often but smaller meals
Renal Diet
Used to manage electrolytes and fluids for client with kidney problems
Antigen Avoidance
For clients allergic to certain foods
Example
-gluten free for patients with celiac disease
-dairy free for lactose intolerance
Wound healing
High protein diet
Restrict carbs
