vitamin c which is needed in the growth, repair and maintenance of body tissues
purpose of fibre
provides bulk and helps the movement of material through the digestive system, keeping it healthy
purpose of water
prevent dehydration and used for lots of important body functions and processes
what do children and teenagers need more of and why
protein for growth
what do active people need more of and why (3)
1) protein for muscle development
2) carbohydrates for energy
3) when they’re active they sweat more therefore they need to drink more water

what happens if you take in more energy from your diet than you use
the body will store the extra energy as fat therefore weight will be put on

what can excess sugar lead to (3)
