proven or suspected shigellosis in whom the antibiotic susceptibility of the isolate is unknown, we suggest ceftriaxone 50 mg/kg per day intravenously (IV) in a single daily dose (maximum 1.5 g) for five days as the first-line parenteral therapy.
Azithromycin 20 mg/kg
