Diagnostic Tests Flashcards
Chest x-ray
abnormalities of lung fluids
overall cardiac shape and size
aneurysm
Myocardial perfusion imaging
Diagnose and evaluate ischemic heart disease, MI
Can identify myocardial blood flow, areas of stress induced ischemia, old infarcts
Echocardiogram
noninvasive that uses US to assess internal structures
size of chamber, wall thickness, EF, movement of valves, septum, abnormal wall movement
Cardiac catheterization
Passage of tiny tube from brachial or femoral artery through aorta into BVs with introduction of contrast medium into coronary arteries and then subsequent x ray
Info about anatomy of heart and EF
Central line (swan ganz)
Catheter inserted through vessels into right side of heart
measures central venous pressure, pulmonic artery pressure, pulmonic capillary wedge pressure
Cardiac MRI
3D image of heart to investigate coronary arteries, aorta, pericardium, and myocardium
