What is HBA1C?

A

glycated haemoglobin, formed in a glycation pathway by haemoglobins exposure to plasma glucose, as average plasma glucose increases, HBA1C increases. once glycated, stays so. HPLC and immunoassays used.

What is metformin?

A

suppresses glucose production by the liver, reduces LDL levels triglyceride levels. increases uptake of glucose by skeletal muscle. Only oral drug that doesnt cause weight gain, but can cause lactic acidosis.
