creatine kinase MB, Myoglobin, BNP, troponins I and T, c reactive protein
What is BNP?
B natriuretic peptide, released from ventricular myocardium, marker for heart failure
what is myoglobin?
highly sensitive but unspecific. urine levels increased 1-4hrs post onset of pain
what is c reactive protein?
acute phase protein elevated in inflammation
give some of the drugs given
thrombolytic treatment, streptokinase, heparin, warfarin, aspirin, statins, beta blockers
how much does streptokinase cose?
80-90 quid per patient
whats the issues with warfarin?
an anticoagulant thats the most widely prescribed but interacts with medicines and foods so INR has to be monitored

International normalised ratio
whats an ace inhibitor?
lowers bp by blocking angiotensin
whats a statin?
lowers cholesterol by blocking HMG-CoA reductase that makes cholesterol
