chest pain (angina), high blood pressure
What are the adverse effects associated with DHP CCBs?
peripheral edema (swelling of the legs), flushing, dizzinness/lightheadedness - serious: orthostasis
What are the drug interactions for DHP CCBs?
taking with a diuretic creates additive risk for low blood pressure, taking with simvastatin increases statin levels
What is the box warning for DHP CCBs?
no box warning
What are the precautions for DHP CCBs?
starting at a lower dose in elderly, caution in liver impairment
What are the patient counseling points for DHP CCBs?
do not stop abruptly, counsel on signs and symptoms of swelling and low blood pressure (specifically orthostasis)
