Cerebral edema and intracranial hemorrhage in children when given IV undiluted. Worsens elevated ICP, extravasation leads to severe tissues necrosis.

Hypoglycemia, ALOC, or seizures of unknown etiology:
25-50 ml or D50 (12.5-25Gm, 1/2 to 2 amps) IV
0.5-1gm/kg (5-10 cc/kg) of a dextrose 10% solution, recommended to five slowly over a 20 min period. (250 ml NS waste 50ml and add 50ml of D50 provides D10 or 10gm/ml)
