Class
Sympathomimetic
Bronchodilator
Mech of action
B agonist (primarily B2) relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, resulting in bronchodilation; also relaxes vascular and uterine smooth muscle; decrease his airway resistance
Indications
Bronchospasm
Hyperkalemia
Contraindications
Synergistic with other sympathomimetics
Use caution in patients with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and cerebrovascular disease
Adverse reactions
CV: dysrhythmias, tachycardia (with excessive use)
Peripheral vasodilation
RESP: bronchospasm (rare paradoxical with excessive use)
CN: tremors, nervousness
GI: nausea, vomiting
ENDOCRINE: hyperglycemia
Adult dose
Ped dose
Give 2.5 mg of premixed solution for inhalation (.083%) via SVN with a mouthpiece, or in line with a ventilatory device. Repeated according to medical control preference
Give 2.5 mg of premixed solution for inhalation(.083%) via SVN with a mouthpiece, mask, or in line with a ventilatory device. Repeat it according to medical control preference. May administer up to 5 mg produce according to medical control preference
