The Mods and Rockers self fulfilling prophecy - The over exaggerated media coverage caused self-fulfilling prophecies. Then more, larger clashes happened in Brighton because of the news coverage they were getting. The Mods and Rockers were living up to their title from the media of being deviant.

• A deviant act is committed. These acts are criminal or go against norms.
• A problem group is identified, known as a folk devil. Reports of their deviant behaviour are sensationalised, the reports often highlight borderline examples seen to be concerning behaviour, this creates public concern.
• A public desire to be kept informed emerges. This results in higher audiences.
• Publicity glamorizes the deviant behaviour and makes it attractive. Therefore more people engage in the deviant behaviour.
• A moral panic develops about the real or exaggerated threat. Reporting continues and demands for action occur, law enforcement focuses on the threat and pressure for harsher punishment occurs.
• The public feel their fear is justified and moral panic is reinforced.
• The media profits more from the whole spiral and continues to report deviance.
