Q

Primitive

A

Conception to several months after birth
Movement.Muscle Function
-Change positon of body segments but NOT body in space
Postural suport is w/in the boundaries of enviornment
Limited WB

Q

Transitional

A

A few months after birth through mature development
Modify primitive stratagies for mature function (increase WB)
Movement/Muscle FUnctions:
-use of postural fixation (frog leg position)

Q

Transition Continued (righting)

A

Righting reactions : support and protective (brought on by antigravity movement)
Use of righting reactions for maintaining new positions in space and to facilitate movement from one position to another.

Q

Transitional Movement

A

Postural control and movement
Baby develops and uses stratagies to allow movement in space (WB to weight shifting)
Bilateral and unilateral weight shift patterns

Q

Transitional Movement Continued

A

Expand muscle activation for coactivation to develop support for WB on extremities in new position (coactivation provides you stability & mobility)

Q

Mature

A

Blend mobility and stability functions
Emergence of equilibrium and midline stability.
Conteralateral weight shit
Child enters this phase as soon as they can independently: sit, creep. roll, walk
Use a high guard position

Q

In mature a Child can :

A

Maintain postures
Move within the position
Move around the environment in a desired position.
Child develops internal control and has an infinte variety or unique patterns.

Q

Transitional Creeping/Prone Progression (WB)

A

Head control on elbows- weight is on forearms/elboes
Flexion blended w/ extension in head and control develops/
On hands : trunk moves away from supporting surface.
Prone on hands or extended elbows

Q

Transitioal Creeping/Prone Progression (pivoting)

A

Prone extension- FULL extension to prepare for upright.
Pivoting- adaptd neck, trunk, and hip extension from prone extension and combines these w/ flexion.
Crawling- trunk centered support w/ extremity mvnt.

Q

Primitive Sitting/Supine Progression

A

Baby attempts to right head and trunk when placed and helps in stting.
Head lag in PTS
Head align in PTS: flexors activate as baby approaches vertical position
Midline holding in supine
Still asmetrical in supine

Q

Transitional Sitting/Supine Progression

A

PTS head in midline and forward of trunk
Hands to feet/Feet to mouth
Activates extremities in space and pelvis in posterior tilts.
Pelvic tilt: feet up
Bridging
Supported sitting: baby holds position w/ UE support on surface using scapular ADD

Q

Mature Sitting/Supine Progression

A

Various positions arms free; child can vary position and move into and out of position freely
Equalibrum reactions form
Should be able to assume and move into and out of iusing full rotation.

16
Q

Primitive Roling

A

Gravity assisted

17
Q

Transitional Rolling

A

Spontaneous rolling: promotes some of the first changes of position in space.
Prone to supin and supine to prone
Rolling is neck righting rolling: no segmentation of the trunk.
Deliberate rolling: baby participates move in initationg the rolling pattern.
Segmentation is evedent as is intention.

18
Q

Mature Rolling

A

Generally by 8-9 months of age.

Full rotation, initation and control in midranges.

19
Q

Primitive Standing/Walinking Progression

A

Primary standing- momentary WB and standing w/ support.

Primary walking is forerunner to reciprocal walking

20
Q

Transition Standing/Walking Progression (pull-to-stand)

A

Pull-to-stand (adaptation of pull to sit)
Bi laterall pull to stand - UE’s used to stabilize and lift so LEs can be positioned
Involves a bilaterall weight shit and pulling of the body upward over both legs.
Unilateral pull to stand- weight shit is unilateral so one leg can move to a flat footed position

21
Q

Tansitional Standing/Walking Progresion (standing/walking)

A

Supported standing: against objects of held w/ hands.
Supported walking- movement from supported standing.
Moving supported on objects is called crusing

22
Q

Mature Standing/Walking Progression

A

Squatting- lowering the body from standing first w/ support and then independently; used in play.
Standing- 1st w/ a wide base and scapular ADD
Walking- experience in walking refines the pattern. Rotation allows the contralateral weight shift to emerge.
