Development Progression 7 - 12 Months Flashcards
Prone 7 Mo (6)
- Quadruped - tummy off floor
- UE - extension of elbows wrist and fingers
- LE- hip flexion, knee flexion
- PIVOTS IN PRONE : weight shifting in UE (sideways) weight shifting in hands
- Grasp changes from ulnar to radial
- Belly Crawl: UE-pulls, LE-dissociation
Supine 7 Mo
Tends to roll out of supine
Sitting 7 Mo (5)
- Assumes from quadruped : lateral pelvic weight shift, righting and equilibrium reactions
- Trunk rotation in sitting
- Lordosis in sitting
- Goes from sitting to prone
- Equilibrium is precarious
Standing 7 Mo (3)
- Full weight - min. support.
- Pulls self to stand
- Bounces
Prone 8 Mo (2)
- Creeps on hand and knees using lateral felxion
2. Quadruped to sitting- uses lateral righting
Sitting 8 Mo (5)
- Good trunk extension
- Decreased LE positional stability
- Rotation : couterbalanced by sideways protective extension or equalibrium reactions.
- Hands: Picks up small objects w/ thumb and finger oposition; release
- From sitting goes to quadruped
Standing 8 Mo (4)
- Pulls to stand through kneeling, half kneeling
- Rotates trunk over LE’s
- Cruises sideways
- Stands w/ one hand held.
Walking 8 Mo
Not able to weight shit in standing. a “stepping gait” of LE ABD, ER, Flex, is used when both of the baby’s hands are held. This gait pattern doesn not provide forward advancement; this is provided y the person holding the baby’s hands, but the baby leads by leaning his trunk forward.
Can ILY cruise sideways around furniture by alternately ADD and ABD their legs.
Sitting 9 Mo (4)
- Good trunk control: in sitting the baby is developing and refining fine motor and cognitive skills.
- Uses various LE positions
- May “W” sit
- Side-sits
Kneeling 9 Mo (2)
- Uses more active hip extension, but still lacks full hip control
- UE’s More active and powerful, althought UE’s are still used for balance and assistance.
Standing 9 Mo
Cruising is now accomplisehed w/ the baby semi-turned in the direction to which they are going. Still unable to lower themselves from standing.
Walking 9 Mo
This change in hip flexion pattern is also noted in the baby’s FWD walking, when both hands are held. As active hip flexion and eventual pelvic rotation develop, the stepping gait decreases and FWD stride becomes more obvious.
Standing 10 Mo
Can now lower himself from standing while holding onto furniture to maintain balance.
Standing 11 Mo (3)
- Ue’s used very little
- Increased hip and LE control
- LE ABD - wide BOS
Walking 11 Mo
The 11 mo has enough trunk control to actively assist w/ lower trunk LE weight shifting. More pelvic rotation is used at 10 months. When less UE support is used, gait becomes more primative. ABD of LE’s along w/ steppage-waddle (toddler) gait occurs.
