Hitler believed the Nazi Party was in a position that could overthrow the gov in Munich due to the economic and political crises in 1923

How was the Munich Putsch stopped?
9th November Seisser and Lossow charged their minds and organized troops to resist Hitler’s march
What happened to Hitler after the Putsch?
Hitler managed to escape how’re two days later he was arrested
What was the impact of Hitler’s and Ludendorff’s trial?
The trial lasted a month therefore this gave Hitler a lot of publicity (national press) and time to put forward his political views in trial. He soon became famous all over Germany
Ludendorff wasn’t charged
Hitler was sentenced 5 years in prison however he only served 9 months
What happened whilst Hitler was in prison?
He wrote his autobiography - Mein Kampf. He was allowed many privileges such as visitors and any books.
The Nazi Party became less popular because the WR became more stable. NSDAP was banned but still secretly survived.
Discuss the impact of the Munich Putsch on the Nazi Party.
Trial was used as propaganda
Hitler realized he needed complete control of the party to guarantee future success
Also realized that the Nazi Party was going to have to use legal terms to win power (elections)
What happened when Hitler left prison?
Hitler convinced the president of Bavaria to lift the ban on the Nazi Party and the party was re-launched in February 1925 and ‘gaue’ (branches) were introduced

Why was Ernst Röhm forced to resign?
Hitler was concerned that the SA would continue to be a violent group and couldn’t guarantee Röhm would follow his orders
What happened on November 8th and why?
Hitler and 600 Nazis seized a huge beer hall in Munich where Kahr, Seisser and Lossow (part of gov in Bavaria, hated WR) that were attending a meeting. The three were held at gunpoint and eventually all agreed to help.
