- a lower level of technology that is more accessible and useful to the people of developing country
- the technology needs to be easily understood
- it should not require a high level of training or the presence of foreign experts

- aid provided by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as the Red Cross
- this aid often takes the form of emergency aid in response to some natural disaster
what is debt relief?
involved developed countries no longer requiring developing countries to repay all their debts
what are the cons of debt relief? (3)
- some say it gives out money to governments without guarantee that they will spend it responsibly
- some say the benefits are unlikely to reach the people in need
- some say that it will encourage corrupt governments to take on new debts
