the process of growth or positive change, as a country develops you would expect peoples standard of living to improve
what is the development gap
the difference in standards of living between the worlds richest and poorest countries (most and least developed)
what is GNI (gross national income)
-the total value of goods and services produced by a country
what is the birth rate
-number of live births each yer per 1000 of the population
what is the death rate
-the number of deaths each year per 1000 of the total population
what is the infant mortality
the number of babies that die between ages 0-1 per 1000 live births
what is life expectancy
-the average number of years an individual is expected to live
what is the literacy rate
percentages of people in a country that have basic reading and writing skills
what is the population per doctor
the number of people for every 1 doctor in a given population
what is the HDI (human development index)
a composite indicator, combing life expectancy, literacy rate and GNI per capita
why is quality of life hard to measure
because peoples happiness levels change all the time
what is quality of life
the level of happiness, comfort and health experienced by a group or individual
