Q

What were the reasons for the population decline in Detroit?

A

-Lack of diversity in industry:
BIG 3 located here (chrysler, GM, Ford). Not much competition until 1970 when Japan started to compete which resulted in more machinery (robots). This decreased jobs
-Issues:
Racial tensions, inequality of income, filed for bankruptcy in 2013, increased crime rate, abandoned buildings. “Spiral of decline”
