A
Topical adjunctive use - shampoo with miconazole-chlorhexidine, rinses with lime sulfur
Systemic - Primary therapy or can be used in combination with topicals
Terbinafine, Itraconazole, Fluconazole

Pathogenic Fungus that require keratin for grown
A
Affects paws and other parts of body as well
Live in Keratin
Dry, scaly, alopecia skin and broken hairs
Erythema from reactions of the skin
Non-pruritic
Misshapen nails
Most common type Trichophyton - don’t produce fluorescence - not highly contagious
Fungal culture only way to make diagnosis
Histopath can reveal fungal hyphae in keratin
Special fungal stains may be necessary
