What is urticaria mostly caused by?
Release of histamines

What is Erythema Nodosum caused by?
Hypersensitivity to Group A B-haemolytic strep, primary TB, pregnancy, malignancy, IBD, chlamydia
How does Erythema Nodosum present?
Discrete tender nodules that may become confluent - most commonly on the shins
What is Stevens-Johnson syndrome?
Mucocutaneous necrosis with at least 2 mucosal sites involved
Usually caused by drugs
Has overlapping features with toxic epidermal necrolysis
What is toxic epidermal necrolysis
Extensive skin and mucosal necrosis with systemic toxicity
Define Erythroderma
Exfoliative dermatitis involving at least 90% of the skin
What is ecezma herpeticum?
Widespread eruption - serious complication of atopic ecezma caused by herpez simplex virus
Difference between cellulitis and erysipelas
Erysipelas - Acute superficial form that involves the dermis and upper subcutaneous tissue
Cellulitis - involves the deep subcutaneous tissue
What is cellulitis usually caused by?
Strep. pyogenes and Staph. Aureus
3 main groups of fungal skin infections
Dermatophytes - Tinea/ringworm
Yeasts - Candidiasis
Moulds - Aspergillus
What cancers does aconthosis nicracans most commonly signify
Gastric Cancer
